The base image for Carrie's cover was a cut-paper vulture she made with her daughter.

Figuring out how to use it took a long time. As a large image (say, for the whole cover) it was too busy and there was no way to drop text onto it.

Then we tried various forms of it with no background.

Nothing worked until I tried duplicating it and doing a mirror-image arrangement.
